Hanley named Volunteer of the Year

Jim Hanley of Henderson has been named the Veteran Volunteer of the Year by the Kentucky State Elks Association.

It was announced Hanley would receive the honor at the state mid-year convention, held in Frankfort on Aug. 6.

Hanley was presented his award by Michael Zellen, Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks, for his service to veterans through the Henderson Elks Lodge and American Legion Post No. 40. This was the first year the award was given.

Henderson Elks Lodge No. 206 also recently held an awards reception where the club recognized James Peden as its Citizen of the Year.

This was in recognition of Peden’s years of service to various local organizations and events.

Tom Davis was recognized as the Officer of the Year for the lodge. Billy Fryer was recognized as the Elk of the Year.
