Remember Our Heroes at Christmas and Year Round
On Wednesday, December 13, 2017, members of the Board of the Henderson War Memorial Foundation, with the help of the Honor Guard from American Legion Worsham Post 40, delivered Christmas gifts to all 96 military Veteran residents of the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, Kentucky.
Each Veteran received a cap and a shirt from his particular branch of service ? Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, or Coast Guard, along with a number of personal toiletry items, snacks, soft drinks, and gloves.? Foundation and Honor Guard members then had a great time visiting and talking with the Vets who live at the Center.?
In addition, the Foundation provided some special gifts that all the residents will be able to check out and enjoy including a number of CD players and wireless headphone sets.
The idea behind the Christmas giving is to honor the Veterans and let them know that they are remembered and appreciated and that their service and sacrifice to our nation are not forgotten.
WEVV, Channel 44 News reporter, Melanie Zayas, was on hand to provide coverage for the event.

The Foundation would like to thank the members of the staff at the Center, particularly Kathy Son, for cooperation and help ensuring the success of the Vets Christmas effort.
The Foundation would also like to thank Board member Jim Smith and his wife, Sherry, and Board member Jimmy Hanley for undertaking the task of shopping for the gifts.? Thanks, too, to the Board members and Legionnaires who helped package and deliver the gifts to the Vets.
