South Middle School Veterans Day Program

South Middle School Veterans Day Program

South Middle School Choir

As usual, the students and staff of South Middle School presented another incredibly uplifting yet poignant Veterans Day Program. Veterans packed the school gym to the thunderous applause of the students. The young men and women of the JROTC were strack to the max in their starched uniforms with gleaming brass and they went above and beyond honoring Veteran attendees.

South’s band and choir were at top form as they played and sang patriotic songs including all of the military service songs. Principal Rush, Superintendent Stanley, and our very own Colonel Jim Smith did wonderful jobs as emcees and presenters. Veterans were also treated to early morning breakfast.

One thing Veterans know is that you do not wait to be called twice for food! A number of new things at the Program made it even more enjoyable and spectacular… such as the presence of the Henderson Fire Department’s huge new ladder truck flying the American flag high in the air. You know, I’m sure other towns have wonderful ceremonies and programs honoring our nation’s Veterans, but I would wager that there is not another ceremony in the country that is presented with such reverence, love, and pride.

Thank you South Middle School for 38 wonderful years.
